FBCR is open and available!
We are also joining our neighbors from across Monroe County in prioritizing community health. For that reason we have made some temporary changes to procedures and operations.
Welcome Home Task Force
The Church Council of the First Baptist Church of Rochester has appointed a Welcome Home Task Force to research and review the documentation from the New York State Forward Plans, the Center For Disease Control, and the work of other places of worship including but not limited to resources ABC-USA and ABC/RGR, then recommend to the Church Council a plan for reopening the church for worship and to a shared facility users.
The work of this Task Force and the delivery of on order equipment to comply with known parameters places reopening into mid- to late-August. Thank you for your patience as we faithfully work through a safe, thorough, and comprehensive plan.
Facility Use (Shared Facility User Groups)
In order to comply with community health best practices FBC campus will no longer be available for meetings of any kind. We regret the difficulty this presents to many of our building use partners and wish to do whatever we can to help mitigate that stress. Please contact us if we can help.
We have assigned a Reopening Task Force with the responsibility to developing a reopening plan that is in accordance with NYS Forward mandatory and recommended guidelines and te CDC guidelines. Their work will continue into the foreseeable future bringing recommendations to the Church Council for review and action. We also have order appropriate cleaning equipment to properly disinfect the church between groups for the COVID-19 and other virus. This equipment is currently backordered and will be delivered to the church when it becomes available which is expected sometime between mid-July to mid-August.
Please check back to this page as more details become available.
Each room in our Kaiser Wing is being marked for the appropriate number of individuals which can safely be in the room at time. We will publish those numbers soon.
Before your group may return to the church the State of New York and our insurance carrier require the following criteria be met:
- A new proof of insurance certificate, naming the First Baptist Church and specifying COVID related coverage.
- A plan according to NYS Forward guidelines on how your group will met during this time of pandemic. Each plan should include at minimum:
- How will you maintain appropriate social distancing?
- How will you ensure your participants know they should and actually wear masks while in the facility?
- How do you plan to handle restroom requirements?
- What measures do you have in place should someone not following the rules set up by the state, the church, or your group.
- What health questions do you plan to ask your participants prior to entry?
- What plan will you implement if your numbers exceed room capacity?
- How will you notify the church office if you need to move to an additional room?
- How will you provide appropriate contract tracing information on your participants?
The church has worked hard to establish safe, fair, and comprehensive documents and guidelines and we would be more than happy to advise your leadership on suggested guidelines. Please contact the church office and ask for Janet Richardson.
