Advent Candle Lighting

A Story of Entering Twilight                    Daryl Hunt

One:       As the day begins to close, we enter into twilight.

Many:    And darkness will follow and the sun will rise again.

One:       Each day brings new opportunities for being God’s people in new ways.

Many:   And each day we claim God’s love through Jesus Christ so that we can be God’s people.

One:      We light this first candle of Advent knowing, believing, affirming that the light of Jesus will guide us into tomorrow and tomorrow.

Many:   We light this candle for the days ahead when we need to see the light of Jesus

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, Latin hymn, T. Helmore, arr. D. Labman

*Morning Prayer

*Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
