What To Expect When Visiting
When you enter the church through the double front doors under the steeple, you will be welcomed by a greeter or an usher, who will offer you a bulletin (a.k.a. a program or order of worship). This outlines our order of worship: music, hymns, prayers, bible readings, sermon topics and more. Indications are included for standing to sing and when to read aloud.
Typically, you will see a range of dress from very casual (jeans and tee-shirts) to suits, ties, dresses and hats. Before the service begins, you find people greeting each other, while some remain quiet in their seats. The service begins with a musical piece called the “prelude”. If you have any questions feel free to ask the person next to you.
Children are invited to the front for a story or brief lesson during worship, after which they can go to a separate room for Christian Education or they can return to their seats with you. Following worship, which we call “second hour”, they have music education with the Music Director Henry and another adult in the music room.
You are cordially invited to our “Coffee hour” immediately following the service for informal conversation and treats. We hope you will stay so we can get to know you better.
What does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?
