Dear Friends:
I walked into my Chiropractor’s office and saw this on the dry-wipe board on the wall. It convicted me, inspired me, and made me laugh out loud.
It is so human to have one good day practicing a new habit and then going right back to the old habit the very next day. Health is indeed a process not an event and so is marriage and parenting and getting good at your job and figuring out retirement, and…and…and.
Faith is also a process not an event. It takes immersing ourselves in scripture and prayer. It takes coming to church to be a part of a faith community. It takes reading and discussing and learning. Faith takes encouraging each other, to stay on the path and grow. Like Aristotle said: “We are what we repeatedly do.” Faith takes practice, is a practice, becomes our practice. Jesus’ call to the Disciples was, “Come follow me!”
We take that first step, not knowing always where the path leads but believing that God will see us through and be present to us by the power of the Holy Spirit. And then we take the next step, and the next and the next…
Praying that you not only keep the faith but that you share it.
