Our special Lent Mission Giving opportunity encouraged the congregation to give for the 5 weeks of Lent any multiple of $5 toward their special inner-city barber apprertice program, Cameron Cuts, that has had State Grant funding put on hold by County Executive Adam Bello. We named this 100% pass-through offering, High 5 for Cameron. The inidividual giving project helped us raise together $3,050.

Giving multiples of $5 for 5 Sundays of Lent | We ask that you challenge yourself to do a little extra this Lenten season for Cameron Community Ministries (CCM). Together we can make a difference by giving a High 5 for Cameron. For the five (5) Sundays of Lent, we ask you to make a commitment to give weekly any increment of 5 – $5, $15, $50, $250 – to the ongoing work of CCM. Considering Monroe County’s hold on grant funding for our underserved neighbors, these extra funds will help carry them through until the grants are reinstated especially for their new program Cameron Cuts*.

If 50 individuals give just $5 for 5 weeks, that is only $25 each, but together it is $1,250. If we increase that by $10 to $15 each, we then raise $3,750! Yes, together we can make a real difference.

Cameron Community Ministries’ New York-licensed barbershop began in June 2023. With a day class of 10 students and a night class of 10 more, CCM provides students with a barbering kit, prep for the NYS Barbering Exam, and 3 months of experience in their barbershop, all while providing the community with low cost haircuts in a safe and welcoming setting.
